erotic tapestries
Olivier Hölzl transforms high-resolution close-ups of male and female genitalia, primarily sourced from dating sites or adult websites, into intricate wallpaper patterns. The artist discovers these intimate images on Google using the "advanced search" feature, entering terms like "Dick Close-up" or "Pussy Close-up" to exclusively display high resolutions. The wallpaper patterns emerge through reflections and repetitions, reminiscent of the Trompe-l'œil concept. At first glance, the patterns created from genitalia appear aesthetic and conservative, reminiscent of an upscale Parisian salon. In this context, the artist infiltrates the living rooms of the aristocracy and bourgeoisie, unbeknownst to them. The "camouflaged genitals" symbolize the hidden aspects unfolding within the confines of one's home.
